Many of my ideas come from abstract themes, ideas or feelings I have but I also love to work with the representation of real space, the illusion of form and the complexity of changing values.  By simplifying images I see in the natural world or using images from my personal photography, I can develop and place emphasis on what I feel is the most unique element of that composition using various media.

My belief that a true work of art is a combination of many things--aesthetic beauty, craftsmanship, compositional balance and statement.  For me, painting is more than just working on pictorial space--it is a process of creation that represents a visual story.
My intent is that my work will make some connection to the viewer but I think my own creative process is complete when I see something new in my own work.
