Cityscapes
I'I begin my landscapes and cityscapes by using my own photographic images. I like to capture the views without people or movement so that I can focus on the unique architectural properties or natural shapes. The simplified, stark lines that emerge become abstract yet representational with an enhanced use of perspective to give the viewer a sense of depth and metaphoric quiet. I try to give buildings the illusion of form through slight changes of value and the use of space as more of a rhythmic design. I often try to impose my own ideas or feelings about the subject by making subtle or very obvious changes in the elements or viewpoint. As I develop some of the designs, they may become abstract or completely without subject matter.
