Still Life

Most of my still life paintings represent my fascination with synthetic patterns and the juxtaposition with common objects within a composition.  Pattern can be represented by a folded or striped cloth or in the shapes and lines within abstract designs.

Although the subject matters are eclectic in nature, each subject was selected to be placed with a distinct pattern in the composition to balance and enhance the rhythm that the pattern produces.  Whether the composition appears traditional, cubistic or abstract each attempts to bring visual harmony through repetition.  I think the simplicity of synthetic pattern symbolizes natural order and helps tell a unique story about the simple objects that share their space..
